This is the final part in the series of Rated Random and in previous blog, I’ve talked about How I Started My First Facebook Page ? where I talked about starting Rated Random and even though it is a small introduction, you can get a small idea about where we began and then in the next blog, we moved toward How To Get First 100 Followers On Your Facebook Page ? which can also be read as a standalone blog and in continuation of the series too.

In this blog, I’ll talk about How I made it reach 3K Followers, How I used every every trick online to get likes on posts, How I changed my strategy to get genuine likes and loyal followers and eventually Why I stopped and What’s coming next ?

How It Reached 3K Followers ?

It’s a good feeling when you create something and you can see it in front of you and with the rise of internet, not only you but several other like you can visualize it too. Although everything behind the screen is just zero and 1, you can transform it all in whatever shape and color and can present it to your audience and be hopeful that someone likes what you create.

And I had the same intention with this venture where I all I wanted to do was just post memes and get likes on my post. And being honest, I never made any conscious effort in producing any of my own content and all I focused was on the distribution of my page and getting likes on the post, no matter what. I don’t respect that but it got me likes and with it, came the people who actually wanted to see whatever I post.

What I posted ?

Honestly Just stolen memes in the beginning and in the middle and even the last photo uploaded is a meme I stole. I ain’t exactly proud of it but I worked with what I have, I wasn’t actually creative in terms of thinking about new content but was systematic with what I want to post.

In starting all I did was post content in the text format which were simples jokes which I copied from older pages and my oldest post on this page was

After creating or saying copying from other pages, I finally moved into posting memes and continued into that category for quite some time

How I tried To Systematize It ?

I got similar types of posts downloaded on my device and at that time, you could schedule your post and I took advantage of that to make sure my content is in front of my audience at regular intervals even If I’m sleeping.

I categorised my content into different categories like normal memes, quiz types posts, text based jokes and scheduled it over a regular interval at one particular time and the only thing I had to do when the post was up to reply to comments and do what I do best, distribute my content and increase it likes which brings me to my next point.

How I Got Likes & Followers ?

Although I’ve extensively discussed How to get Likes and loyal audience by actually knowing social media growth but my approach was a little unconventional as I did more than what was actually required and I’m being honest, 90% of what I did was just pure marketing of my page to increase it audience.

Making Flyers

Not actual flyers but me and my friend were in class and when the content part was decided, we just though about how we could achieve some likes and we just tore up a page from out notebook and wrote our page and distribute it through the class asking them to like our page and subscribe our content.

Commenting On Liked Pages & their posts

I was desperate at that time to get maximum eyeballs on my page and then I took help from YT but the community back then wasn’t as ethical with their approach as they are now and one of the unethical approaches I took from a video was that I should visit a section in Facebook which was liked pages section and there you can only see the pages you have liked as a page and then interact with their content and this was a goldmine for me.

Because once I realised that you can comment and like even in their comment section, I went on a rampage to like and comment on the maximum page post and basically spammed myself on every page’s comment section. It got me so many likes and whenever I got time, I used to do this instead of focusing on my content and even though this got me crossing 1K likes much sooner than I expected, I was banned from so many pages for spamming. Again, Not Proud!

Made A Dedicated Group For Page

This was one of the smartest things I did and I’m kind of proud of doing it. The idea was to make a group where all the followers of Rated Random can join and not only like the pages post but be part of the community in a more involved fashion by making their own memes and getting featured on the page.

People can simply join the page and post their memes and If we deemed it worthy, it can find it’s place on the page. I took this idea from some other page and wanted the same level of engagement rate on mine.

Engagement Bait

I won’t say I did Ragebait which makes up the majority of the content nowadays but I did some of the engagement bait like I remember there were some post which always used to get me likes and I’d use them whenever the likes were crashing down. Some of them are

I understood then why people used to engagement bait, when you realize the people like argument more than being satisfied, you can get massive reaction and If you are able to monetize it, it’s not them who will eat the fruits and although I don’t plan on or did do it in any of my future ventures, I did it a lot during this one.

Why did I stop Posting ?

In simple words, I got bored of the repeated memes and I think I outgrew it to some extent, I should have transformed the page into something else or added a new platform into the mix like Instagram or YT to do anything remotely different but I didn’t and I let it die. I wish I could write more in this paragraph but I don’t have anything else to say apart from the fact that I should have pivoted but is it too late ?

What’s Next For Rated Random ?

I’ve decided to now take this forward in not one but multiple series moving forward and the sequel will be much better and an upgrade to the original idea. But what am I planning to do ?

Reviving The FB Page

I know the page is more than dead but that’s for the organic reach, what if there is some way I can divert a particular amount of traffic back to this account and try to revitalize it to wherever it deserves to be. Now the question is what does it deserve and that decision is now on me to think what should It be ?

Should I again start stealing memes and hope the viewer hasn’t seen it already and if they have, they should not respect their time enough to like similar posts like it. I won’t say that’s a good idea considering what I know now and that is to think of an idea, making a platform for the said idea, making content on it and positioning the page to be something people will start liking and interacting with.

Making An Instagram Page

Long after I stopped posting, I thought about what I could have done instead and starting an Instagram counterpart for my page was always on top. Instagram was blowing up when I left and I should have taken advantage of the wave but I can’t go back in time to change it. So let’s do it now !

Learning Meta Ads

It was always on my agenda and I think now is the perfect time to deep dive into it. I also couldn’t get my reach back unless I put some paid promotion on it and for that, I need to have some solid working knowledge of how meta ads work and then I can test the waters with small spending and eventually increase it to match the reach and interaction I want out of it.

Launching Multiple Blog Series

One will focus upon growing an Instagram page from absolute scratch while the other will be about reviving a dead Facebook page though normal and organic means and taking the help of meta ads whenever the need arises. This will diverge into multiple series so stay tuned for that.
