Before we dive any deeper into this topic, you should know this blog is second edition of one of My Ventures which is Rated Random and in the first edition, I talked about How I started My First Facebook Page and in this blog, I’ll talk about how I got those first 100 followers on my page and how you can too.

Most of what I did might not be relevant at this point for your page but the foundation will always remain the same and instead of talking about something which is outdated, I’ll keep the blog precise with what I did and what you can do to achieve the same result.

Why Those First 100 Followers Matter ?

The simple answer is because not everyone has 100 friends they can send the link to and ask them to like or follow the page and 100 followers is one such number which can highlight your page in when we compared it to someone which started at similar turf.

What Makes The Difference ?

Without sugarcoating it, the simple answer is the type of page you are presenting in front of your target audience and the demographic you are trying to make an impact on. If your page is about sports only you are interested in your close circle, you can’t ask for those initial likes because even if you get those double digit followers on your page, they won’t interact with the same if they don’t find it worthy enough of their like and you’ll lose out on those initial boosting Meta does with your post on it’s platform.

In a nutshell, If your initial audience doesn’t interact well with your content, Meta won’t even show it to a wider audience and because the audience is randomly selected by meta at first, you should at least get some people on your followers list who actually wants to interact with your content as those are the first people who will decide your fate so choose them wisely and not asking every random person on the street to like or follow your content because you are doing more harm than good.

There is a concept of creating something first and then making it better to your liking but when you have a company which deals with million of content posted every second, it’s tough for them to exactly determine what is the perfect factor to rank something for your feed so instead of one factor, they have multiple of the same but to summairse it all, it’s only about keeping the user engaged on it’s platform. And If you have something which can keep those swipes waiting for a second and get that engagement, you are in the clear for the big run.

How To Achieve That Difference ?

There is not one thing which I did which might have broken that 3 digit barrier but was a combination of various factor put together repeatedly for a consistent amount of time.

Deciding Your Page Content & Target Demographic

The heading is enough in itself to explain what i mean, If you know what your target audience is and you know what they are liking and you can replicate the same for your page, you won’t have any problem at least content wise. Some people don’t like any posts or even comment and Meta knows it but they will stay on the post to read it completely and technically, it’s also a ranking factor for your page so don’t think about those likes or comment, focus upon creating content which makes a user stays on the platform.

In my case I knew that I want it to be a meme page and nothing more, I was thinking about creating more of a culture through my page sharing some edgy content and memes (It looks cringe now but you were considered cool back then honestly) on your timeline.

1/3 of my audience were demographics between 18 to 34

I knew the target audience was people my own age and If I can see myself liking some content, I knew it can resonate with people who are on my friends list which brings me to my second point.

Get Those Initial Likes and Engagement From Your Existing Circle

See although I don’t celebrate the idea of getting your first followers from your known ones, this is one of those things that’s an unfair advantage and the trust you have built with them over the years should replicate into their actions. So invite your friends and family on the platform to like the page, interact with the posts and give a tiny boost because no one starts at zero, even your like will make it one so take advantage of that which I did too.

I asked everyone in my friends circle to like my page that even after 9 years, they still remain subscribed to my page at the time of writing

24 Friends are subscribed to this page

Stay with a single Template, Design for a consistent period

At that time, I didn’t even know whether Canva existed or not and all I did was add my logo onto every meme I stole honestly and even though this advice is coming from my other ventures like TDM Tourney which focuses upon gaming or Psyden Crafts itself which focuses upon dark themes consistently.

You should always aim for similar type of pattern so your work looks distinct and recognizable whenever someone is scrolling their feed.

How To Know If Your Current Page Will Make It ?

No one can figure out if what they are doing will result in what they want but there are some factors which they can focus upon to ensure that it does. Some factors you need to follow and Some which you need to Ignore.

See it from an outsider POV

If you would have liked something on your timeline that you are creating on the page, you know other people will like it too but stay honest with yourself regarding the quality of the page and keep improving it to match the page’s quality which pops up when you search for the keywords on the search panel.

Stop Looking At Insight

Likes, Followers don’t matter in the beginning as much as it is shoved down in the control panel down your throat and the same is the case for other metrics like Engagement Rate or Event Count. You don’t even have to know about the majority of these to have a successful page.

Don’t compare Yourself To Anyone

I remember there were a lot of page which I considered my competition at one point which had hundred of likes which were a big deal for me but slowly I understood that everyone has their own journey. Some of them started much earlier than me, Some of them were made by people who were popular on their own and were able to navigate some part of their existing followers to the page but one thing was certain which was that the page which maintained consistency, post regularly and produce decent content were always successful, it was just a matter of time.

Enjoy What You Are Creating

If you can’t enjoy what you do, you won’t move beyond the early dopamine phase and reach the actual success but will stray in the valley of unknown where you don’t know whether what you are doing will actually amount to something and at that time, the only thing which will keep pushing you is your willingness to create something worth existing.
